Express FC, nicknamed the Red Eagles, is also affectionately referred to by its supporters as “Mukwano gw’abangi” a term that can loosely be translated as “a darling of many.”

It might however take quite long for the current team to be discussed in such glowing terms after the club suffered one of the heaviest defeats in the club’s history.
The Red Eagles went down 6-1 to Police in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League with coach George Ssimwogerere likely to bear the brunt of the fans’ anger.
His team’s structure or the lack of it has often been a subject of debate and was exposed by a rampant Police side.

By the first minute, striker Derrick Kakooza was finishing in an empty net after Express custodian Mathias Muwanga and his backline misread a teasing cross.
On six minutes, another defensive mix up granted forward Pius Kaggwa to execute a clever finish just like Kakooza did for the third goal that saw him him loop the ball beyond Muwanga.

The Fourth goal was end product of Police’s coordinated interplay that saw Kagwa control the ball on the edge of the box before unleashing a low drive shot that kissed the net as the Police band blared louder.

Forward Ben Ochen then also got in on the act scoring his 11th goal of the campaign with a typical strike cutting in from the left before finishing emphatically.
Express substitute Peter Mutebi then turned in Johnson Odong’s flick before a late Disan Galiwango consolation for Express.

The result helped the Cops exert revenge for a 5-3 first round loss and also leapfrogged their opponents who are now 12th, two places and points above the relegation places.
Like Police, URA have now won two straight second round games after accounting for Bul in a 3-1 away victory in which Cromwel Rwothomio scored a brace.
