KCCA now in real crisis

KCCA manager Mike Mutebi insisted his team were not in a crisis despite failing to win their previous four games prior to yesterday’s Startimes Uganda Premier League fixture away to Bul Bidco.

But there seems no other fitting description for their current predicament after the reigning league champions suffered a 3-0 defeat to Bul at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru.

The result was their second defeat in three league games in which they were also lucky to escape with a 1-all draw against Bright Stars who had a goal wrongly disallowed on Saturday.

This was in addition to the two stalemates against Angola’s Petro de Luanda that saw them eliminated from the Caf Champions League.

They have since failed to recover from that setback and went behind on 34 minutes when Richard Wandyaka side footed home at the far post after KCCA failed to clear a corner.

The fast-paced Robert Mukongotya then rifled home the second before KCCA reject Musa Esenu slipped the ball under goalkeeper Charles Lukwago’s body from a James Otim pass on the right flank.

“Bul were better because they took their chances and we did not,” Mutebi said of the game that marked the first time KCCA failed to collect a win in a five game sequence since he returned to the club in mid-2015.

The result, meanwhile, lifted Bul to the top of the log with 16 points from seven games, one point ahead of Onduparaka who suffered a 2-1 home defeat to URA with Cromwel Rwothomio scoring a brace.
