KAMPALA. The second season of the Kabira Country Club Football Tournament is slated for March 31 at the site in Bukoto. The one day tournament was a hit on its debut, something the organisers want to build on this year.
The competition will run under the theme ‘Promoting Fitness & Relationship Building among Corporate Organisations’ to help corporates improve on ties on top of keeping healthy. “The day presents a great opportunity of networking with different people and at the same time gives a work out for the body,” Kabira Country Club general manager Rakesh Hurrychurn told Sunday Monitor.

Twenty sides in four pools of five have confirmed participation with Pro Zone already favourites to defend their title. The side with local football legends like Edgar Watson and Hassan Mubiru teamed up with Kampala Central Member of Parliament Mohammed Nsereko won last year’s gong. The trophy also came with Shs 1m, runners up and MVP also walked away Shs 500,000 and 350,000 richer respectively and the same prizes are up for grabs
Local football governing body, Federation of Uganda Football Associations (Fufa) is back onboard to add authenticity to the event. “We are always willing to come in and assist to help build the game. It’s good to be back,” said Fufa’s Esther Musoke. A host of teams like Hash Security, Pink tie, Fufa fm, Top Bloggers, Speke Hotel and Macos Legends will vie for the big prize.
