Kireka eye Kitara fall

KAMPALA- Halfway the mark of the Fufa Big League, the journey grudgingly continues for the strugglers.

In particular, Kireka United, bankrolled by Wakiso District politician Norman Ssemwanga Kaboggoza, hope is all they cling to.

Today, they host Kitara, a team they are yet to beat in four games, ravaged by injuries and absences.

Coach Fred Kasana, who takes on the monster duty of earning his team three points from a team that beat them home and away last season, will first of all have to do without the injured Paulo Kibandwa, the biggest source of goals, midfielder Morris Luggya, left back Tony Kimuli and goal keeper Patrick Mubiru.

The team of part-timers, has only Kamada Ndiefi, who has to ply between his home in Mutukula and Kireka for games, former Express FC midfielder Daniel Otto and Mbarara City loanee Simon Ssentumbwe, as the only experienced players.

“We shall fight for three points because we look at the second round to make up for lost ground,” Kasana said. Maybe, Derrick Jurua with three goals, Job Owori and versatile Ishaaq Lumago will be up to task.

Yet it is not so rosy at Kitara, a team that has been unlucky with coaches this season.

With a great zeal to earn promotion, they hired Sam Kawalya but he disappeared in thin air for personal reasons. They hacked into Vipers set up and hired Edward Golola, who also left them. They now return to Docker Magara.

They will however miss George Senkaba and Roger Milla Ahumuza over accumulated cards as well as injured Derrick Tekkwo.

But they welcome former SC Villa striker Alex Kitatta, who has not scored a goal in four appearances.
