ENTEBBE. Upon his arrival at Entebbe Airport yesterday, newly elected Caf Executive Committee Member for Cecafa Moses Magogo confirmed that an urgent meeting will be held next month in Kampala to strategise football plans for the region.

Magogo, also the Fufa president returned after an eventful week in Cairo where he was voted on to the Caf Executive and attended the Cecafa Kagame Club Championships final won by KCCA in Kigali, Rwanda.

Working together
“If we are to compete with countries from other African regions, we should work together to put a strong case amongst African football’s elite. If we are to achieve our vision of becoming the number one football nation in Africa on and off the pitch, we must have strong neighbors in football.

“There are countries in our region that would be bidding to host big competitions but it should be more important that we prepare ourselves competitively,’ added Magogo.

Regarding his election as Caf Exco Member Magogo commended the team he worked with in Cairo before the elections. “It wasn’t an easy election. I stood against an incumbent who has been a strong football administrator for a long time. It was the good work done by team of five people that campaigned for me,” he disclosed.

“Being on the Executive of Caf hands you an opportunity to contribute to the ideas mainly in football development.
“Generally, that may contribute to the development of football in our region,” concluded Magogo, who defeated Tanzania’s Leodgar Tenga 33-19 during the elections held at Marriot Hotel in Cairo last Thursday.
