Matsiko fight to add spice to festive season in Kabale

Matsiko with 19 fights of which he has won 15 and lost four, will challenge Nasir a tested fighter with 54 fights under his belt but only five losses.

KAMPALA. Boxing Day in Kabale town will be like no other before. The town will for the first time host a kickboxing fight when homeboy Alex Matsiko takes on Egypt’s Mohammed Nasir.

Matsiko with 19 fights of which he has won 15 and lost four, will challenge Nasir a tested fighter with 54 fights under his belt but only five losses.

The other major fight on the day will involve the Mbarara-based Ausi Mbata a controversial loser to Moses Golola in his most high profile bout yet facing off with another Egyptian Mohammed Ibhahim.

The latter has 22 competitive fights while Mbata has done only seven and including defeat to Golola.

Fight for good cause
The fight which organizers say is for a charity cause will take place at Agaba Center an entertainment spot located in Kigonzi cell in Kabale town.

According Amon Mugume, CEO of Ampropen, organizers of the event, proceeds will go towards equipping two health centers with beds and beddings.
“We are donating proceeds to Kamukira health center IV and Kitooma health xenter II,” Mugume says.
Mugume explains that Kitooma is the birth place of Alex Matsiko as well as dignitaries such as Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda, Archbishop Stanley Ntangali of the church of Uganda.

There will be eight fights, all local fighters, on the day of December 26 (Boxing day) and the fight is starting as early as 4pm.
