Ndejje hold Villa but lose ground in relegation fight

KAMPALA. SC Villa departed Mandela National Stadium yesterday the more frustrated side after failing to create clear daylight between them and Ndejje University, the team that occupies the final relegation spot.

With three games left, Villa have a slightly easier run-in with their remaining games away to Maroons and two home games against Tooro and Nyamityobora.
Tough schedule
Ndejje on the other hand will host Onduparaka and KCCA and have to travel away to Kirinya-Jinja. They also have an inferior goal difference that stands at -17 compared to Villa’s -4.
At Namboole yesterday, Villa created the better goalscoring opportunities late in the game after a dull opening hour. Substitute Bashir Mutanda drew a good save from M Emukule who also kept out a Pius Wangi effort.
The Ndejje goalkeeper also inadvertently kept out an Ambrose Kirya effort that ricocheted off him from a clearance.
Buy they were more aggrieved by referee Wilberforce Oloya’s refusal to award Villa a penalty after Charles Lwanga’s effort hit a defender’s arm although TV replays appeared to back the match official’s decision.
Emmanuel Wasswa on the other hand wasted Ndejje’s best chance but hit the side netting after dispossessing Shafik Bakaki.
