Kampala. Promotion hopefuls Proline, Kyetume and Doves All Stars were all left ruing missed opportunities in their bid to claim automatic promotion from the Big League after failing to collect maximum points on match-day 18.

The Elgon Group saw second and third placed Kyetume and Doves All-Stars play out a 1-all draw in a result that left them five and six points behind Wakiso Giants respectively. It means the latter, who lead with 37 points after 18 games can now gain automatic qualification should they win their next game which is at home to Entebbe on Thursday. In the Rwenzori Group, Proline gained a one point advantage over Kansai Plascon with two games left after playing out a goalless draw at Bamusuuta S.S play ground in Kiboga yesterday.

“Our initial intention was to keep a clean sheet. The other was try and get one or two goals but that failed. Our game against Plascon is not a final, because a draw favours us and Plascon want to win,” Proline coach Shafik Bisaso said of the result.
