St Leo’s College, Kyegobe are the surprise package of the ongoing Copa Coca-cola Schools Soccer Championship. Coached by former SC Villa stylish mid fielder Fred Muhumuza, the Fort Portal side have surprised many by reaching the semifinals. In the quarterfinals, Kyegobe shocked last year’s losing finalists Rinsah Standard Academy from Buikwe 1-0 and their confidence to beat the best is no longer in doubt.
But today’s semifinal fixture will present the Tooro Kingdom boys their biggest test. They face the tournament defending champions and favourites to win a seventh title.
Kitende have not conceded a goal yet and have dismissed Kyegobe’s challenge even before the first whistle goes. “We have beaten stronger teams in the tournament,” Kitende captian Dan Birikwalira said.
“There is no reason we shouldn’t beat Kyegobe. We expect nothing but a win.”
In the other semifinal, Standard High-Zana meet St Juliana from Gayaza. Standard eliminated 2009 champions Buddo Secondary 5-4 on post-match penalties while St Julian beat Mehta 2-1.
Both games will be played at Kabale Municipal Stadium.
