Kampala- Reigning Stanbic Uganda Cup holders KCCA exited a second cup competition in two days after losing their round-of 32 clash to Tooro at Buhinga Stadium yesterday.

Having suffered a 3-2 aggregate defeat to Congolese side Otoho D’oyo on Sunday, the Yellow Boys lost 3-1 on penalties after 1-all draw in regulation time.

Patrick Kaddu gave them a 51st minute lead capitalising on a mistake by defender Mike Kawooya.

But the hosts responded through the enterprising Allan Kayiwa with the forward scoring from a rebound after KCCA goalkeeper Charles Lukwago initially kept out Simon Sserunkuma’s freekick.

The stalemate sent the teams into the shootout in which KCCA captain Timothy Awany missed his side’s first kick.

Hassan Musana and Allan Okello then also had their efforts saved by Tooro goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa to help his side exact some measure of revenge on KCCA who knocked them out of this competition at the round-of-16 last season.

Wakiso through
Willy Kavuma, Kawooya and Isa Mubiru then converted for Tooro who will join Kiboga Young and Wakiso Giants who also qualified yesterday.

The evening saw Wakiso goalkeeper Cleo Settuba endure a rollercoaster evening saving the only spot kick at Namboole as his side edged hosts Kireka 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

He had earlier gifted Kireka two goals when his miskick allowed Umar Mbowa to score in an empty net.

His weak punch on the ball then allowed veteran Kamada “Ndiefi” Ssebagala to lob him for a 2-1 lead but Wakiso fought back.

Feni Ali, who had volleyed in the first from Isaac Ntege’s right wing cross, set up fellow substitute Abdulkarim Kasule for an equalizer in the final minute of the seven added before Ssettuba redeemed himself.
