From URA top management to the coach, players and beyond, reputations have been battered due to the team’s poor form and no one seems to have an appropriate answer as to why they can’t win games.

Club coach Sam Ssimbwa’s job becomes more precarious every passing match but with his former club KCCA lying in wait this afternoon at StarTimes Stadium. The eccentric tactician is however not giving up yet.

“It is going to be very tough to us since KCCA have been playing very well but we shall do our best to see that we win despite the fact that in the last two games we have been scoring goals but were disallowed by the referees,” Ssimbwa told Daily Monitor yesterday.

Whereas URA have good memories of Lugogo having collected maximum points on their last visit, the KCCA game, like the loss to Vipers, is undoubtedly another nightmarish fixture they would dread to take on after the turmoil that dominated their first 12 matches.

Fresh from morale boosting wins over Express and closest title challengers Vipers, KCCA manager Mike Mutebi says it is time to engage another gear in a desperate bid to catch up with the leading pack.

“We are prepared as always and with a lot of confidence from the players especially now that after the three points against our direct rivals (Vipers). “It makes us comfortable to close the gap by winning all the matches left and I think the lads will do everything to for us to catch up,” Mutebi revealed yesterday.

He added; “they are the only team that we lost to at home last season and they have a belief they can do it again with a coach who has belief and knows KCCA because he was here. We dont put pressure on the players.” KCCA welcome back the Uganda Cranes trio of Charles Lukwago, Allan Okello and Nicholas Kasozi, which is a huge sigh of relief to Mutebi’s grand plan of winning the remaining fixtures against URA, Kyetume, Mbarara City, SC Villa and Proline.

Four-time league winners URA, a distant 12th on the log and seven points adrift of fifth placed KCCA, will have defender Paul Mbowa and winger Joachim Ojera back but will miss the services of forwards Victor Kilama and Moses Sseruyidde.

Yesterday, Proline moved to within six points of Tooro the team just above the relegation places with a 3-2 win over Maroons.

Striker Edirisa Lubega was instrumental picking up the Pilsner man-of-the-match award after scoring the opener and before he was fouled for the penalty that Mustafa Mujuzi converted.

League leading goal scorer Steven Mukwala did pull a goal back for Maroons with his 10th goal of the campaign with a near post header after running onto Abraham Tusubira’s freekick.

Substitute Hamis Kiiza then restored Proline’s two goal advantage after fine work from Hakim Kiwanuka before Solomon Walusimbi with another header for Maroons who are seventh and wind up their first round games on Friday against Vipers.
