KAMPALA- Tooro will be aiming to make it a miserable three days for reigning Uganda Cup champions KCCA when the two teams meet in one of the ties of the Stanbic Uganda Cup round-of-16 stage. KCCA were dumped out of the Caf Confederation Cup on Sunday afterfailing to overturn a 3-0 first leg deficit against Congolese side Otoho D’oyo.

The Yellow Boys won 2-0 with goals from Patrick Kaddu and an Allan Okello penalty.

KCCA manager Mike Mutebi hailed the character of his players who must again show some of those attributes in what should be a tough game at the Buhinga Grounds in Fortportal.

“The way the players reacted knowing that they knew they had work to do. That character or belief that we are good is a positive,” he said.

They will come up against a Tooro side whom they defeated 2-1 in the league first round but come into this game unbeaten in five games. Their only dropped points in that sequence came in the goalless draw against Vipers before notching victories over Ndejje and Bright Stars. They possess one of the most experienced squads in the league and boast a midfield of Paddy Muhumuza, Willy Kavuma and Stephen Luswata that is a match for any team in the league on their day.

They will however rely most on Allan Kayiwa with the forward scoring six times in the league this season.

The other ties include a Big League clash between Kireka and Wakiso Giants in a game that could mark the return of Steven Bengo. The midfielder was pardoned after reportedly traveling to India without seeking permission.

“He apologised and has been pardoned,” confirmed club CEO, Sula Kamoga in a statement on the club website. Kireka will on the other hand count on former Victoria University midfielder Daniel Otto as well as Kamada ‘Ndiefi’ Sssebagala for creativity.
