Dear Alizenki: The female breast is mainly made up of fat that makes it soft and shapely and the milk producing and delivering tissues. Because cancer of the breast largely announces its presence in form of a lump, cases like yours are usually investigated thoroughly.
Treatment of a breast infection includes antibiotics and surgery to drain the lump if it has pus but even when surgery is not done, the area which had the infection may form a scar. This may distort the breast structure, leading to on and off pain.
The pain could also arise from perpetual fear of cancer since it is difficult to believe that the breast problem was not cancer. This fear can be allayed by the doctor checking out your breasts regularly.
