Chameleone excites accountants at ACCA convention
The whole of last week saw the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) in Eastern Africa bring together all accountants and auditors from the great lakes region to one place - Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The accountants and entrepreneurs from Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, Eritrea and Ghana not only discussed policy and network but also loosened up with a cocktail party on Thursday evening. The night was headlined by musician Jose Chameleone.
The singer, who will be holding his One Man, One Million concert later this month took time to invite the accountants to attend his “charity” concert. “I am Ugandan and proud, so I take this opportunity to invite you all for my concert next month whose proceeds will aid the construction of boreholes and pit latrines in Karamoja region,” the self-proclaimed music doctor said before performing his latest single Wale Wale that got the suited accountants off their seats to sing and dance along.
Comedian Pablo Kimuli cracked the crowd with quips in relation to accountability.
“I remember when I was still in high school, I used to make a shopping list worth over Shs100,000. My uncle, who was an accountant would then cut it to shs10,000, eliminating unnecessary items like sugar and grab,” he tried driving the joke home.
“He insisted I did not have to be given pocket money because the school gave me meals,” he added sending the corporates into chuckles. The deejay then spun goldies and classics of 90s that saw the accountants dance till late.
