There are different reasons why people wear sunglasses. Some will tell you that they wear them to help protect their eyes from the harsh wind and strong rays of sunlight.

Others will tell you shades give them some sort of cool vibe or confidence. Others simply want to match up their outfits or because sunglasses are trendy.

Reasons differ from person to person. Despite the reason, people ought to wear the right kind of sunglasses for the right occasion.
For example, if you decide to wear them for an outdoor party on a sunny day, you can opt for mirrored sunglasses, flip-ups, cat-eyed sunglasses or retro ones, among other types.

If you are going for a more intimate event like a funeral service and wish to wear a pair, you would have to choose a very simple pair to show respect towards the grieving family. If you can do without them at a funeral, the better.

Overall, in order to get an appropriate pair, visit an eye clinic. A specialist will examine your eyes and recommend the best pair of sunglasses. Although there are a number of sunglasses sold on the street, it is not wise to buy them because some of these may have lenses which can affect your eyes, in the long run.

Another important aspect to remember is to select a pair appropriate for your type of face. Sunglasses may look good on display but may not look good on you.

According to All About Vision, an online complete consumer guide to vision and eye care, here are some ideal choices.
If you have an oval face, look for eyeglass frames that are as wide as the broadest part of the face.

For those with a square face, try narrow frame styles, frames that have more width than depth and narrow ovals.
If you have a diamond shaped face, rimless eyeless (which have lenses mounted directly to the bridge), and frames with oval or cat-eye shapes can also be good choices.

For those with a heart-shaped faces, thin, light-coloured frames and rimless frames that have a light, airy appearance are appropriate choices.
