Eddy Kenzo live in Kamunguluze concert

Tonight singer Eddy Kenzo takes the big leap holding a live concert at Kyadondo Rugby Club, the same venue where established artistes in Uganda’s music industry like Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleoene and Jamaican artiste Konshens have recently held concerts. This venue is quite a big one but Kenzo says that he is ready for the challenge.

“I have called on my fans I am not looking at filling this place to capacity. All I want is for my fans to come and have a good time with me. If they can fill it, the better,” he said.

Kenzo broke onto the music scene with the song, Yanimba in 2009. Since then, he has released Nategedde Onimba in 2009, Stamina in 2010, Bolingo in 2011 and Ogenda Kunzisa in 2012.

“I am now going to launch Kamunguluze which is title track on this album. In this song I am basically talking about our everyday realities from dating where people in a relationship are not open to one another to other aspects of life that my fans can identify with,” Kenzo explained.

He says he will be on stage at 10pm adding that he could have come on earlier but he has a number of artiste friends who will be performing at his show, thus pushing his performance to a later hour.

“I would like to have my friends perform and entertain my fans before I can come on stage. Jose Chameleone, Bobi Wine, Good Lyfe, Rema Namakula, Pastor Wilson Bugembe, among others have told me they will be coming to support,” the singer added.

Entrance to the concert is Shs10,000 and Shs30,000. Gates open at 6pm. Kenzo says his success as an artiste lies in the lyrical content of his songs, his ability to entertain while on stage and his versatility.

“I have managed to remain relevant because I can do almost all styles of music. I am versatile; I do not want to be monotonous, sounding the same all the time. I can do afro beat, zouk, reggae and dance hall,” he explained.

He is the artiste behind songs like So lonely, Sole na Ngato, Mundeke Bolingo, Ogenda Kunziza Kyomisinga, and Stress Free, among others.
