The rising water levels on the shores of lake Victoria have left some of Uganda businesses in a dilemma. Businesses have been destroyed, other closed and people have lost jobs.
President Yoweri Museveni during his address to the nation two weeks ago, he asked all people doing businesses around lake Victoria to vacate those places peacefully before he sends National Environment Management Authority officials to arrest them.
Museveni said that in February 2020, Uganda started releasing 2000 cubic metres of water per second, an increase from the previous 1000 cubic meters. He said this was to avoid causing problems to the dam.
