Sporty cars on Ugandan roads

Toyota Altezza

Three cars – Subaru Impreza, Toyota Altezza and Mitsubishi Lancer - have over the years had outstanding performance on the Ugandan market perhaps because of their sporty outlook and agility.
In the late 1990s, Subaru was popularised by the sporty version of Impreza, which was also popular on the rally track.
However, Subaru brands have since become trendy with a variety of models including the all popular Forester, Crosstrek and the recently launched Subaru Outback Crossover, among others.
Sporty cars turn heads and as such they have gained a certain degree of popularity. Today we shall focus on the different versions of sporty cars on the local market.

Subaru Impreza
It is a compact car that was first manufactured in 1992. It has gone through a number of modifications and it is currently in its fifth generation. However, the second generation, which comes in the form of a sedan and a compact wagon or hatchback is the most popular on the Ugandan market offering a four-door and five-door body variant.
The Impreza has major competition in the Mitsubishi Lancer, which also offers a sporty outlook and impressive power. It comes in front- and all-wheel drive layouts, giving it a unique edge over similar cars in the market. The second generation was introduced in 2003 with improved features such as the weight-saving modifications including an aluminum hood, perforated rails, and a hydro-formed front sub-frame.

Altezza
Toyota Altezza is a Japanese variant that has gone through a number of modifications.
It was first produced in 1998 and broke the tradition opting for a rear drive layout instead of the front-wheel-drive for cars of its size.
This was a response to existing competition for cars such as BMW 3-Series, which had also been fitted with the rear drive layout. Altezza is sporty in outlook and enjoys ultra-power not common among cars in its mold. It has a neatly fitted interior that is connected by a number of electronic devices, which essentially places it above most sedans.
Its sporty outlook that is enhanced by the wedged body shape, clear tail and headlights makes it an obvious choice for younger corporates and trend-conscious buyers.

Altezza is a compact sedan with a racy watch-dial-style composition, aluminium pedals and chrome gear shift ball.Just like other cars, Altezza comes as a used automobile mostly imported from Japan.
Since 1998, it has gone through a number of modifications with build quality that is above average.
It stands out as a unique and appealing car, whose sporty outlook connects well with the Lexus bloodlines.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
Now in its tenth generation, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was first produced in 1992.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, also known as a Lan Evo or just Evo, was a sports sedan based on the Lancer that was manufactured by Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors.
There have been 10 official versions to date, and the designation of each model is most commonly a Roman numeral. All use two litre-turbocharged inline four-cylinder engines and all-wheel drive systems.

It is a compact sporty car that combines power and comfort, which makes it a popular choice for trendy and young buyers and rally nerds.
The car has sold more than six million units despite regular interruptions. In Uganda, the five-door Mitsubishi Lancer, which has sporty features and attributes, is a most popular brand.
It comes in both sedan and station wagon variants combining speed and agility.
The Evolution, which was first produced in 1992 has gone through a number of modifications that differentiate it from other Lancers such as Cedia.
