E-shopping TV platform unveiled, to help fight Covid-19

An interactive e-shopping platform to enable shoppers order items from the comfort of their home during the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown has been unveiled.

The platform codenamed StarTimes GO is conducted through TV shopping, online shopping and phone-call shopping, while featuring the door-to-door delivery and installation service.

Speaking at the launch of the TV channel, the pay tv’s marketing director Uganda, Mr Isma Lule said the new wave of online shopping is one of the many ways the pay tv wants to improve TV experience. He said TV should not be used for entertainment only, but also for education as now exhibited and shopping.

The channel which will broadcast day and night will air a wide variety of quality affordable products ranging from electricals, home appliances and general hygiene products among others.

He said the new service will save people the risky shopping hustles.

“As startimes Uganda, we know that a healthy environment is important for pandemic control and that’s the reason why we innovated a safe platform as well as a no-touch shopping method in order to help people stay safe in these difficult times,” said Lule.

The platform will help users to reduce on the number of people they interact with as Uganda’s cases continue to rise.
