Pumla

Pumla Nabachwa’s content has evolved from parenting and motherhood to deeper glimpses into her life. This month, we followed her as she renovated her house and made meals for her boo. She is a whole vibe for the go-getters with a playful side. She is ambitious but also brings a unique, alternative albeit unconventional perspective to situations. Pumla is the embodiment of showing up on your own terms, and in a world that has a list of how women should live, we are here for it.

DK-@dorinkan- siime

DK’s page is the elegance we did not know we needed on our feeds. We got to know her first as an etiquette coach who gave us posture checks and how to hold a clutch during a networking event (apparently, it does not go under one armpit –many of us are still failing at this one). Her feed is also full on home-keeping ideas that are made of Pinterest dreams and bits of travel to beautiful destinations in Africa that are not so common. More recently, she has shared about her mental health journey and it has been inspiring to see that metamorphosis into a pursuit for holistic health as she became a gym girlie.

Mrs Matovu, Lucy Smize & Nkwanzee

Luxury is a lifestyle, and these three are living it. With aesthetics that scream soft life and captions that serve us that “rich kid” energy, their content is always on photoshoot fleek. But behind the gloss is good taste, business savvy, and a reminder that it is okay to want a little extra sparkle. Lucy Smize and her Forking Around Kampala initiative have given our eyes a taste of fine dining, Nkwanzee has taken bridal shopping to another level with Strat Bridal, and Mrs Matovu has lent her business savvy to several brands and campaigns.

Agather Agather

Atuhaire’s influence is more on the chaotic X app. The lawyer, journalist and human rights defender is who we wish we were if we had the backbone to speak truth to power. Agather shed light to several mismanagement of public funds issues, abuse of human rights, and is always quick to put anyone who tries to intimidate her in their place. She has seen the inside of a police cell, been beaten, her life threatened but she is undeterred in her work with her colleagues at Agora.

Lisa Kusiima, Daisy Sun- shine & Edith Katunguka

These three have independent pages but a similar vibe. They are the Christian girlies giving good PR to marriage, family living and making the most of the content creation journey. Lisa Kusiima and Daisy Sunshine have YouTube channels where they host guests on varying topics related to family, finances and Christian living. While Edith is relatively new to most feeds, the videos of her making Nara Smith-esque breakfast for her husband got people’s attention, even making it to WhatsApp groups. The three are proof that there is no niche that is oversaturated. There is enough room for everyone.

FaizaFabz

While many people got to know Faiza Salima, aka FaizaFabz during the March to Parliament protests last July, she had been on the media scene for a while. She is a professional yapper on KFM’s D’Mighty Breakfast, a foodie who cooked sweet treats on NTV Uganda, and a voice over artiste. Girl is also in her bag with several brand partnerships going on. From pay TV and beverages to cooking gas and restaurants, girl has a knack for curating content in a fun way that even when you know it is an Ad, it is relatable and hilarious. Her ongoing Ramadhan weight loss journey has had us say, “same, girl” on more than one occasion because while the goal is to eat healthy and work out, it does not mean there will not be ‘threats’ to the progress.

The Ladies of The Unpopular Opinion (TUO)

Prim, Claire and Kemi’s TUO channel on YouTube might be on a hiatus, but these three ladies have kept the scrolling going on. From running their joint business Khama Digital, where they train budding content creators to their individual pursuits, they get that mobile data running. Prim’s ‘Becoming Her’ series taught us to show up for ourselves fully to become the woman we keep dreaming of being, at our own pace. Claire continues to give gems on being a boss babe in business and evolving as your business does, without neglecting yourself of course. Kemi has returned to hair content recently while also sharing notes from the third floor, giving space to the issues that become more apparent in your 30s and her wellness journey. The three may have distinct differences but they show us that this is the beauty of sisterhood – it is not all matching outfits.

Elatam Prisicilla

Elatam is for the career and lifestyle girlies. Elatam’s content is a call to live courageously — whether that is pursuing your audacious goals, moving cities, or setting up the home of your maximalist dreams. Her IG and more recently, TikTok feeds are a curated mix of ambition and aesthetic, with captions that feel like voice notes from a friend who believes in you.

Rebecca Nanjego

Rebecca is the queen of taking simple things and weaving magic. We have known her as the thrift queen for a while from the days when she took us downtown to source for pre-loved clothes for her store. Now we are transfixed by the creative ways she shows us how to style the clothes. Not to mention that she recently opened Ofumbi, a made-in-Uganda clothing store. Even her brand advertising content is a visual story.

Cjay @cjay_256

Joy Turamuhawe, aka Cjay’s influence is a good mixed bag of business, influencing for social justice campaigns and travel. She cleans homes on one hand and runs a digital marketing business on the other. While she has been an easy mark for Internet trolls, girl is not deterred. She is proof that you can turn a “small” business into big influence. Practical, sharp, and unapologetically herself, her content keeps evolving and she keeps inspiring young hustlers. Also, need we mention this girlies is under 30? That is a big deal, right?

Ms Flav, Rachel Mwine & Manuela Mulondo

Flavia Tumusiime, Rach Mwine and Manuela are like the big sisters of the socials — wise, grounded, and always speaking life. Whether it is mar[1]riage, motherhood, business or boundaries, these three share their journeys with honesty and grace. From creating content on YouTube to hosting events, there is always something to learn from them. From Ms Flav, we have learnt to gently pursue our passions, while making time for family, friends and self. From Rach, we have seen what it means to transition between careers while maintaining what you love to do. Manuela shows the girlies what ambition with a soft touch looks like.
