Miss Uganda Foundation, an umbrella body of beauty pageants has partnered with Uganda North America Association (UNAA Causes) to bring clean water to people across the country.

Speaking at one of the stations they had constructed in Bweyogerere, a Kampala suburb, Ms Brenda Nanyonjo the chief executive officer, Miss Uganda foundation said they decided to focus on clean water since it is still a major problem across the country.

“We are making spring wells, repair the dilapidated ones and ensure people have clean and safe water. We will also advise people on how to take care of the water projects made and rehabilitated for them.”

Nanyonjo adds that they prioritize communities with clean water challenges for well constructions and repair.

“We noticed a challenge especially in the rainy season, people get cholera and typhoid because of dirty water from the streams, and it flows direct in the spring wells there by making people ill.”

The clean water campaign is a project started by the UNAA Causes in which they raise funds during their annual conventions to provide clean water to Ugandan’s back home. Accordingly, they intend to see every community with access to clean water through treating water sources, or constructing standard water collection points.

The campaign was launched during a UNAA Causes convention in Las Vegas in 2017.
