Joram Muzira

He has groomed over five models currently working internationally, including Aamito Stacie Lagum who is best known for winning the first season of Africa’s Next Top Model, Patricia Akello, and Paul Mwesigwa.

Joram Muzira, says the upcoming Fashion weekend in Washington DC is the best opportunity Uganda has to promote talent, products and tourism to the whole world.

The Model Booker, Agent and Show Producer has worked so hard to see the fashion and modelling industry revolve. He is part of a new generation that is grooming global international fashion Models working and representing Uganda on a global scale in fashion capitals like; New York, London, Paris, Milan, Barcelona, Cape Town among others.

It is for the same reason that he has been beckoned by the organisers of the fashion weekend scheduled August 31 to September 3, 2018 at Gaylord Harbour in Washington DC.

The fashion weekend will run concurrently with the Uganda Festival also dubbed the summers ultimate event, organized by Ugandans in North America under their umbrella body, UNAA Causes.

“I am beyond excited and thrilled to be invited over to Washington DC to produce the Fashion Show for the festival Runway that will have Uganda’s finest designers including Award Winning designers; Anita Beryl of Beryl Quoture, Fatuma Asha and the legendary God mother of Fashion Santa Anzo.

"It's a big honour because I believe I will learn a lot of new skills that I will bring back home as well as market the skills that I have as a show producer,” Muzira said.

Muzira has produced a big number of the leading fashion shows and pageants and events in Uganda right from the Abryans Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAS), Miss Tourism Uganda plus an array of various Fashion shows for different designers and brands locally.

Muzira’s presence at the fashion weekend attracts with him an entourage of internationally recognized models that he has personally handled.

“Some of my models that have represented Uganda globally include: Aamito Lagum- The winner of Africa's Next Top Model, Akello Patricia all working in the major fashion capitals of the world, Paul Mwesigwa - The first Ugandan Male Model to ever be signed to international global agencies and will be moving to New York soon , Aliet Sarah now signed to all the fashion Capitals - London , Milan , Newyork and Paris plus Ayak Veronica heading to New York soon.”

He said the fashion weekend is a route to have Uganda’s talent marketed and the fashion industry boosted.

“UNAA Causes with its annual festival has done an incredible job to unite all Ugandans living in North America as well as those coming from the Mother land here in Uganda. The festival has promoted our indigenous local talent to the world, promoting Uganda tourism and above all highlighting the top notch talent that Uganda has,” Muzira said.

“The significance of this event to Ugandans is that it's emblem of promoting our Mother land across the globe since North America has a lot of attention globally, Ugandans are visible to the world now,” he added.

At the same event, Ugandan artistes; David Lutalo, Geo Steady, Lydia Jazmine, and jazz maestro Isiah Katumwa will entertain revellers as well as live band performances on a boat cruise by Uganda’s oldest band Afrigo.
