Practical remodelling ideas for your bathroom, toilet
It does not matter where you live; very many Ugandan houses are the mass products of one blue print. This blueprint was probably designed in the 1920s because it is dated, and uncreative. The bathroom or toilet in particular are stiflingly boring. Apart from the kitchen, the bathroom and the toilet are a home’s most over worked rooms but is usually an afterthought when it comes to interior design.
Ms. Agaba was once the owner of such a bathroom. “My friend tipped meon how I could make it look attractive without necessarily spending a lot of money,” explains Agaba. Her bathroom is now a relaxing retreat where the family wash away the day’s stress in style.
One step after another will turn your bathroom into one of the most cherished sections in the house.
Select a centre piece for your bathroom
Take time and go out of your way to look for nice designs which will leave your bathroom looking nice. Things such as mirrors can be nice when placed as a backdrop; attractive tiles are some of the things that will make your bathroom soothing. Remember as you go to shower, when the room is attractive you will not resist the urge to shower.
Colour, colour, colour.
Add colour to your bathroom by furnishing it with colourful accessories like artsy shower curtains, a colourful rug, frames and tastefully painted walls.
Light
As much as possible let in light into your bathroom. Rooms with proper natural lighting are more relaxing and aesthetic. If you have a small bathroom space, create an illusion of more space by having storage shelves built along the walls. Also decor storage baskets (available at Shoprite) can transform the appearance of your bathroom or toilet.
Throw some luxury into your room
Many of us think that a bathroom is only supposed to be for bathing and nothing else and that there basically nothing that can be done to enhance it. But did you know that you can make it attractive by including in things like dressing room or relaxing room. A television set, radio and reading room and a comfortable chair could all revamp the entire room just like the rest of the rooms.
Patronella Lusembo, an interior decorator and owner of Patronella a Glass and Associates, Matugga , advises that instead of going to purchase them , trick is to actually
play around the colours in the bathroom. For example, if you have brown toilet, you could change it to white in order to match that of the tub and sink.
“Playing about with colours make the bathroom stand out from the other rooms in the house. It is the way you match make them,” she says.
Create space with a mirror
You probably have a nice home but you have limited space. Stress no further because mirrors can create that very space you are looking for. Get yourself different kinds and you will surely like what you did. Buy a beautiful mirror and add perhaps two, makeup and shaving mirror to beautify the place.
Construct a shower area
Instead of crowding the area with curtains or a door, design a specific area just for the shower. This will prevent the water splashing with the shower drier. It will also create space for storage or something else.
Designing a bathroom can really improve the look and add to the good sensation of your home. A little touch will change it to one of those beautiful rooms in the house. So remember that just as the living room and bedrooms need remodeling the bathroom requires revamping to make it a more relaxing and comfortable place.
