Uneb withholds results for 980 candidates

The results of 984 candidates, who sat for the 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education, have been withheld by the Uganda National Examinations Board over suspected malpractice. Releasing the results this after at Nakasero State Lodge. 

The Executive Director of Uneb, Daniel Odongo noted that most of the reported cases of malpractice are mostly in science practical papers with physics being most affected. 

Of the above-reported cases, 883 are in sciences and only 65 in the rest of the other subjects. He explains that in the science cases, there is overwhelming evidence that the candidates were given experimental results by teachers merely to copy. 

He added that the work of some candidates did not relate to the results recorded. Meanwhile, he reported a reduction in the number of malpractice cases from 3,000 reported in 2023 to 984 in 2024. 

All the candidates will be invited at Uneb and if they are cleared, their results will be released. 

“There has been a very welcome reduction in cases of malpractice. There are 64 cases with a total of 984 candidates suspected,” Mr Odongo said.
