Following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, government introduced curfew from 9pm to 6am as a measure to contain the spread of the virus. Curfew for boda bodas begins at 6pm while vehicles is 9pm.

Mr Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, said the operation was carried out to reinforce the measures.

“Most people in Kampala Extra region had become reluctant on following the presidential directive on curfew time. They had resorted to moving beyond the restricted time. That is why we resorted to our checkpoints to make sure nobody defies the curfew order,” Mr Onyango said.
