All Luzira inmates pass 2024 UACE examinations

All inmates at Luzira Upper Prison who sat for the 2024 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations have passed.
Daniel Odongo, Executive Director of the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB), confirmed that 48 candidates registered for the exam from Luzira Upper Prison, consisting of 45 males and 4 females. Of these, 47 candidates attended the exam, and all of them passed, with one absentee.
Out of the 47 candidates, 25 (52.1%) earned three Principal Passes, 13 obtained two Principal Passes, and 10 secured one Principal Pass. Odongo added that all the candidates qualified for the UACE certificate.
Celestine Obua, Chairperson of UNEB, emphasized that Luzira Upper Prison is not just a facility for incarceration, but also a true correctional center.
“As will be noted in the release statement, all candidates from the prison who sat for the UACE exams have earned their certificates, each with at least one Principal Pass. This is a testament to their commitment to becoming better citizens, preparing to lead more productive lives once reintegrated into society,” said Obua.
