Apac herbalist arrested over defiling girl with disability

Police in Apac District are holding a 36-year –old herbalist over allegations of defiling a 16-year-old girl with disability.
 
Morish Obua, a resident of Abongodero Village in Ayeolyec Parish, Akokoro Sub County allegedly went with the victim to Maruzi Hill Central Forest Reserve to gather local herbs where he later forced her into sexual intercourse.
 
Mr Rogers Akena, a resident of the area said the victim reported the matter to her parents leading to the arrest of Obua on Friday.
 
“He asked the girl who is his neighbor to accompany him to the forest to show her a certain herb but after they had gathered the herbs, he asked the girl to have sex with him but when she refused, he forced her,” he said.
 
Obua is detained at Akokoro Police Station for further interrogation while the victim was taken to Akokoro HCIII for medical examination.
 
Mr Moses Olum, the LCI chairperson of the area said the victim told them that Obua threatened her with a knife before having sexual intercourse with her.
 
“She returned home and told her parents how she was defiled. The matter was reported to me then we hunted for the suspect and after his arrest and interrogation he confessed to having sex with the victim,” he said.
 
 
 Apac District Police Commander, Mr Rogers Kapere said Obua will be charged with aggravated defilement.
 
“He will be charged with aggravated defilement since the victim is a vulnerable person,” he said.
