Arua UPDF commander dies

The Commanding Officer of the UPDF 409 Brigade at Bondo Army Barracks in Arua District, Col David Byaruhanga, has passed away.
Capt David Kamya, the 4th Infantry Division Public Information Officer, confirmed the news to The Monitor on Friday afternoon. "It is true. I have received confirmation from our Division Commander that death has taken our own senior officer, Col. David Byaruhanga, the Commanding Officer of 409 Brigade in Bondo, Arua District," he said.
Col Byaruhanga passed away at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, where he had been receiving medical treatment.
Eulogizing the late officer, Capt. Kamya said, "He died as a hero, and we will always remember him."
About Col. Byaruhanga
Before his transfer to Arua, Col Byaruhanga served as the Commanding Officer of the 405 Brigade in the Karamoja region, replacing Col. Wilberforce Karate.
In 2022, he also served as a Commander for the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) before his appointment in Arua District.
