Excitement as Bushenyi, Mbarara schools scoop national awards

There was excitement among the Pupils of Parental Care Nursery and Primary in Bushenyi District and Students of Ntare School in Mbarara City as both schools won the National Speech and Debate Championship for primary and secondary categories.
The 12th National Speech and Debate Championship 2024 for both Primary and secondary schools was held at King’s College Buddo’s main auditorium in Wakiso District.
The finals saw Parental Care Nursery and Primary School Bushenyi win their fourth national junior speech and debate championship.
“I want thank the kids who prepared for this day and the school for always supporting us. Winning four championships in a roll is not simple, and so, we must double our efforts because many will be targeting us in the near future,” said Mr Desmond Tayebwa, the debate patron at Parental Care Nursery and Primary school Bushenyi.
He said team work, dedication and hard work by the pupils and teachers anabled them to excel.

This year’s championship was under the theme Transparency, Accountability and Anti Corruption in commemoration of International Anti-corruption day with an aim of creating awareness on how corruption has changed society values to worse.
The western region was represented by a number of both Primary and secondary schools. They included Parental Care Primary School Bushenyi in the Primary, Mbarara municipal School, Banya Tereza from Fort Portal in junior category.
Others are Ntare School, Mary Hill, and Immaculate Heart Nyakibare in Rukungiri District in secondary school category.
