Four perish in Namutumba, Bugweri road crashes

One of the motorcycle passengers fell in the middle of the road where the taxi ran over him.

Four people have been confirmed dead in two separate road crashes that occurred in the districts of Namutumba and Bugweri.
The crashes happened in the areas of Kadankala in Mazuba sub-county and Busesa in Busesa Town Council in Namutumba and Bugiri, respectively according to police.
‘’We have had two separate road crashes in Namutumba and Bugiri that left four people dead on the same day, ’’ said Mr Michael Kafayo, the Busoga East police spokesperson.

Mr Kafayo said the Namutumba road crash involved a Y Y Bus Registration No UAX 858T and a Truck Registration No UBM644A that was carrying Mangoes.
He said three bus passengers identified as Anthony Kakaire, a resident of Busembatia Town Council in Bugweri District; Maimuna Namulondo, a resident of  Kirongo village in Bugiri District and an unidentified male adult died in the crash
Eyewitnesses told police that the speeding bus rammed into the stationary truck after its braking system failed.
Relatedly, Mr Kafayo stated that the Bugweri road crash involved a collision between two motorcycles and a tube taxi.

Mr Kafayo named the deceased as Samuel Mwanje, a guard at Busesa Mixed Primary School.
Mr Richard Mwanamwoiza, a teacher at the school said Mwanje was a resident of the neighboring Ibako village in Busesa Town Council.
