President Museveni has refuted reports that he is in a political move to fight first Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
The Uganda leader says he does not have any grudge against the former Uganda parliament speaker.
“The allegations that I send people to fight Kadaga are insults because she is my cadre whom I cannot fight,’’ Museveni told Busoga Sub-region PDM beneficiaries at Kamuli Youth Centre.
He added: “If there is any issue with any of my cadres, I tell them privately or in meetings openly.’’
Museveni urged Ugandans against politics of hatred, instead calling for mass sensitization on income generating activities.
Museveni’s remarks came shortly after Kamuli District Youth Chairperson Asuman Waiswa Nololo announced that a section of leaders have recently told locals to vote out Kadaga on the advice of Museveni.
“For sure, this is a big disappointment to our side,’’ Nololo said earlier.
He added: “We are of the view that you maintain the status quo for the elder cadres you have been with for the last 40 years.’’
Nololo pledged support to Museveni who will in 2026 be seeking to extend his presidential mandate beyond 40 years.
Previously, Kadaga, who is also the minister for East African (EAC) Affairs has complained that leaders from several parts of the country de-campaign her in Kamuli, where she is woman Member of Parliament.
Without mentioning any leader, she said she believes that the intention of her rivals is to take her out of both local and national politics.
Recently, Parliament Speaker Anita Among announced that she will challenge incumbent Kadaga for the second deputy female NRM CEC member. The move triggered concern in the Busoga Sub-region with pro-Kadaga elements accusing the current speaker of fighting the Kamuli lawmaker.
