I will free Mumbere, Bobi Wine tells Kasese

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party presidential candidate,Mr Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, has promised to release the Rwenzururu king Charles Wesley Mumbere if he is elected president.
“When I come here for the freedom party once you elect me president, I will come with your king,” Bobi Wine told people at his, last rally in Kasese yesterday.
He said Mumbere’s arrest was done unlawfully and with impunity.
“Do you know why Mr Museveni arrested your king? It was because he spoke the truth. In Uganda, when you speak out the truth they will either kill or arrest you. That is why I have been arrested many times,” he added.
In 2016, the army raided the Rwenzururu palace and killed more than 100 people. King Mumbere was arrested with about 200 of his subjects.
King Mumbere and his subjects are still on trial for treason and he is banned from accessing his kingdom.
Yesterday, Bobi Wine told the people of Kasese that he will solve their problems of floods and poverty.
He entered Kasese District under a slight drizzle which supporters braved to attend his address.
Kasese always suffers tragedy during rainy seasons when River Nyamwamba bursts its banks causing floods that kill people and destroy property.
Three people were injured and taken to hospital after security forces fired teargas and live bullets to disperse the supporters.
He had earlier in the day campaigned in Bundibugyo and Bunyangabu districts. Mr Mwesigwa, a local leader in Ntotoro Sub-county, said government has failed to solve floods which often displace people.
In Kirumya village in Bundibugyo where he held his first rally, the area had just been hit by heavy rains and the local river Kirumya burst its bank, displacing over 300 families.
“I am aware that you people are suffering from heavy floods, these are some of the areas we shall give priority once we come to power,” Bobi Wine told the locals.
