The Jinja South Division Mayor, Mr Nasser Ashraf has asked female graduates to be careful when searching for jobs to avoid sexual exploitation by men in offices.

"My sisters who have graduated- as you go out for jobs, men will want to take advantage of you but please don't accept because I know it is what is happening today,’’ Mr Ashraf advised.

He said job seekers need to be patient as they look for jobs because there are people ready to exploit them in all forms.

He added that any kind of exploitation accepted by the job seekers, especially the fresh graduates, will not only belittle that person but also the institution he or she went through.

Mr Ashraf, who was speaking on Friday last week during a virtual graduation ceremony at Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Jinja campus, said the graduates can use the skills acquired to start their own businesses.

About 180 graduands were awarded Diplomas and certificates in different disciplines at the School’s 15th graduation ceremony.

The MUBS Jinja branch director, Ms Veronica Mukyala said the Division has offered the branch a land title, streamlining the co-existence at Naranbhai Road Primary School in the Jinja City centre.

Ms Mukyala added that the land title was to cement the good relationship that the University enjoys with city authorities.

She revealed that 51 of the 182 graduates who were awarded Diplomas have already been listed for employment with companies that contacted the Division authorities.
