New details emerge on American tourist who died in Masaka

New details have emerged on the American tourist who died in Masaka District in central Uganda on Tuesday.

The Masaka Regional Referral Hospital administration on Wednesday confirmed that William E. Davis, a resident of San Antonio, Texas in USA had died as a result of a motor accident.

On Tuesday, the tourist attached to Kampala City Trekkers Tour Company is said to have been involved in a motor accident at Bunadu village, Bukakkata Sub County in Masaka District while travelling to Ssese Islands in Kalangala District.
However, police said the cause of his death was still suspicious.

The Masaka regional referral hospital senior superintendent, Ms Beatrice Oling Adong said that by the time the hospital received Davis, he was already dead.

Ms Adong said his body was examined and had bruises that could have been caused by a motor accident.
The Southern Police spokesman Lameck Kigozi said that Davis was travelling in the vehicle registration number UAV 347- F, a super custom type with three other men whose whereabouts is yet to be known.

The three men who are yet to be identified dropped his body at the healthy facility before disappearing, according to police.
"They drove his body to the hospital and dropped it there and later took the vehicle which allegedly caused the accident to police," Mr Kigozi told this reporter.
Mr Kigozi also told Daily Monitor that their investigations had so far revealed that the vehicle they were travelling in had overturned several times.
When contacted, the tour company declined to comment on the matter.
