GULU. The State House Monitoring Unit has dragged the Omoro District Driver, who was photographed loading bricks into an ambulance, to the Anti-Corruption court in Kampala to face charges of abuse of office.
Mr Goddy Otto was caught on camera by concerned citizens on March 21 at Lapinyoloyo Village in Koro Sub-county ferrying bricks in an ambulance belonging to Lalogi Health Centre IV.
He was later interdicted from work, arrested and charged with abuse of office and misuse of government property.

The suspect was transferred by the State House Health Monitoring Unit that took over investigation of his case from Gulu Central Police Station on Friday where he was briefly detained at Kampala Police Station.
The State House Monitoring Unit Director, Dr Jackson Ojera Abusu, on Friday told journalists at a press briefing in Gulu Town that the suspect, who was initially arraigned before the Gulu Magistrate court, was, however, transferred on advice from the State.

He said the suspect is expected to be arraigned at the Anti-Corruption court today on charges of abuse of office.
“We are almost done with our investigation, we are transferring the suspects file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for review and advise,” Dr Abusu said.
Dr Abusu noted that Mr Otto’s case will serve as deterrent to other civil servants who mismanage public resources, adding that the vice must stop.

Mr Gilbert Ntumwa, the State House Health Monitoring Unit detective, on Friday said although they are almost done with investigations, the team is lacking witness presentation of the person who took the ambulance photo.
He, however, noted that the witness will be protected.
“The person might not be interested in coming out because of fear. We want to build confidence in the witness and assure him/her that his identity will be protected,” Mr Ntumwa said.
