Police court recommends dismissal of four officers filmed dragging elderly woman in mud

The Rwizi Region Police Disciplinary Court has asked Uganda Police Force (UPF) to dismiss four police officers who were filmed dragging an elderly woman in the mud during her arrest in Mbarara City, Western Uganda yesterday.

Following a closed-door hearing chaired by SP Joel Komaketch, the officers were found guilty of misconduct for torturing Ms Victoria Kabatoreine, 65.

The officers are; ASP Andrew Betunga, Detective Constable Darious Aharizira, Detective Constable Hope Nsasirwe and Detective Constable Loyce Kiboneka.

The case file has been forwarded to Police Headquarters in Kampala for a final decision. 

“This development underscores the Uganda Police Force's commitment to addressing misconduct and upholding professionalism within its ranks,” said police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke.
