Turkish Airlines flight makes emergency landing at Entebbe Airport

A Turkish Airlines flight carrying 259 passengers from Entebbe International Airport to Istanbul was forced to make an emergency landing on Sunday after encountering safety concerns.
The flight, numbered TK 612, departed Entebbe at approximately 7:14am but was unable to proceed to its final destination.
“The A333 aircraft, which departed Entebbe International Airport for Istanbul on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at approximately 7:14am with 259 people on board, was unable to proceed to its final destination due to safety precautions,” the Sunday morning statement reads in part.
According to a statement issued by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), the aircraft returned to Entebbe International Airport and landed safely at 10:50am after circling Ugandan airspace for over three hours to reduce fuel to the required safe landing weight.
UCAA Spokesperson, Mr Vianney Luggya, confirmed the incident, stating that all passengers and crew were safely disembarked.
"The precautionary measures taken are standard safety procedures in the aviation industry," he added.
