Two remanded separately over theft of pig, goat in Rukiga

Two men have been remanded to the Ndorwa government prison in Kabale town in Western Uganda on separate charges of theft of livestock.
Herbert Mande, a 51-year-old resident of Kibingo cell Noozi parish, Rwamucucu Sub County, Rukiga District, was on Friday remanded to prison after he pleaded not guilty to the offence of stealing cattle.
Court presided over by the Kabale chief magistrate, Mr Derrick Byamugisha, heard from the prosecution that on November 17, 2024, while at Kibingo village, Mande stole one bull, one goat and one sheep, all valued at Shs2.063 million, property of Anselm Niwandinda.
“The accused is hereby remanded to Ndorwa prison, and he will return to court on July 29 for further hearing of his case,” the magistrate said.
The same court remanded Erias Nasasira, 25, a resident of Kakirare village, Kitunga parish, Kashambya sub-county in Rukiga District, after he pleaded not guilty to the charges of stealing a pig valued at Shs150,000, property of one Jovina Aryatuha.
He is also accused of injuring the same pig.
The two offences were committed on June 27 at Kakirare village, Rukiga district.
Nasasira denied the charges ad was remanded to prison until July 29 when he will return to court.
