Uganda loses 58 doctors, nurses within one year

It is slightly more than a year since Covid-19 broke out in Uganda, and the country has lost at least 334 lives to the pandemic. Many remain in hospital and thousands are battling the after-effects of the disease. In this sixth instalment of our continuing series, our correspondent Promise Twinamukye reports how the pandemic and other diseases have snatched 58 frontline health workers, among them 19 consultants.

Uganda lost at least 58 doctors and nurses in the last 15 months, some to Covid-19, according to Uganda Medical Association (UMA).
