VIDEO: Police shoot at suspected defiler’s car in Bwaise

Police officers attached to Wandeyega Police Station Wednesday shot three times at the vehicle of a suspected defiler.

According to the eyewitness one Lubega, at around 01.30PM a police motorcycle with two police officers dressed in khaki uniform armed with guns came following the vehicle Reg. No. UAP 762N Audi (blue) which had two occupants and shot the tyres.

He said that the scuffle between the arresting officers and the car occupants took about 40 minutes before they were finally arrested and the vehicle towed to Wandegeya Police Station.

“When police officers stopped the vehicle, the driver tried to run away, the officer first released one bullet that hit the tyre, after two minutes, they released another bullet that targeted the tank but it missed and later released the third bullet that put the second tyre down, the occupants were finally arrested and taken to Wandegeya Police Station,” the eyewitness noted.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Mr Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the shooting.

“Police received information about the man who is a mechanic at Kubili garage who after working, engages the young girls within the area and puts them in his vehicle before taking them to unknown destinations and force them to have sex with him,” he said.

“On Wednesday, informers of Kubili police post gave a tip to police detectives that the man whom they have information that he kidnaps young girls to unknown destinations was having a girl in his vehicle. When police came, he was told to surrender and they take him, the girl and the car to police but the man refused and instead drove away, police followed him from Kalerwe up to Bwaise when his vehicle was shot at,” Mr Owoyesigyire added.

He said that the suspect is being held at Wandegeya Police Station on holding charge of defilement.
