  • With digital services, you take control of your time and resources. Embrace Uganda’s digital transformation today.

Uganda is advancing into a more digital future, making everyday services faster and easier. From mobile money to ATM deposits, digital tools are improving convenience. However, some still hesitate to use them.

No one likes long lines at banks, hospitals, or government offices. Digital services let you skip the wait. For instance, you can deposit money instantly via ATMs, even after hours.

Passport applications, once cumbersome, are now easier. You can apply online and schedule an appointment for biometric data capture. Payments are made via mobile money or online banking, and you receive updates throughout the process. This saves time and reduces stress.

Digital services allow you to complete tasks from home. Whether renewing a passport, applying for a visa or work permit, paying taxes, or sending money, these platforms are available through your phone or computer. Mobile money provides 24/7 access, empowering users to send money, pay bills, and manage finances without needing a physical bank. This especially benefits rural areas, promoting financial inclusion and enabling more Ugandans to engage in the cashless economy.

Some worry about the safety of digital transactions. Uganda’s digital services prioritise security with encryption and secure systems. Banks and mobile money providers have strong measures to protect your data and ensure safe transactions. In fact, over 85 percent of mobile money users in Uganda trust the security of their transactions, according to a survey conducted by Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSDU).

Another example of ATM deposits provides a record of each transaction. Likewise, online platforms are designed to be as safe as visiting a physical bank. Secure payment gateways protect your financial data, while real-time updates track your progress.

Using digital services often means spending less. Online platforms help you avoid transport costs and reduce service fees, allowing you to save money.

It’s normal to feel cautious about new technology. Here are some common concerns and solutions:

“What if I lose my money?”

PIN codes, encryption, and transaction records ensure mobile money systems and ATMs are secure. Support is available if issues arise.

“I don’t know how to use these systems.”

Most digital platforms are user-friendly, with customer support and step-by-step instructions. ATMs guide you through each process clearly.

“What if I make a mistake?”

Digital services allow transaction reviews before confirmation. Mobile money services also offer transaction reversal in case of errors. Banks can assist with resolving mistakes.

Benefits of using digital services include: No more long lines, available 24/7, digital services are accessible any time, unlike physical offices that close at certain hours and quick and easy, deposits, bill payments, and renewals can now be completed in minutes.

Digital services come with potential risks, including:
