MVP Asinde leads the awards at the Zone Five Qualifiers

Jane Asinde captained her Uganda Gazelles to a 74-63 victory over hosts Egypt, sealing the East Africans' ticket to this year's Women's AfroBasket.
The 25-year-old was also named the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP) and best power forward.
Asinde averaged 18.8 points, scoring 19 in the final, 10 rebounds and 4.8 assists. Her highest score of the Qualifiers came against South Sudan where she dropped 28.
She also registered two double-doubles in five matches both against Egypt. In the group phase match, she came up for 18 points and 14 rebounds, doubling down in the final where she added 12 rebounds to her 19 points.
Asinde made the team of the tournament alongside South Sudan guard Delicia Washington, Egyptian shooting guard Nadine Mohamed, small forward Victoria Reynolds from Kenya and center Raneem Elgedawy.
Other individual awards went to Bright Starlets' (South Sudan) Adut Bulgak who was named best rebounder, Ines Nezerwa of Burundi who bagged the best blocker gong with Nadine doubling as the best shooter.
While the Burundian national team was awarded the Fair Play trophy, Bright Starlets beat Kenya to finish as the competition's bronze medalists, Egypt settling for silver.
