Anne Abeja has risen high in different positions across the golf fraternity. Back in November, she took over the position of Uganda Ladies Golf Union president from Evah Magala.
She inevitably left the role of Uganda Golf Club (UGC) lady captain, handing over to Grace Kabonero, unceremoniously.
The Housing Finance Bank finance secretary Abeja should have handed over after her two-year term at UGC a year ago but only to extend because of the coronavirus disruptions.

Now with restrictions easing up and in honour of the women’s month, Abeja will handover via the traditional farewell ceremony at the 30th UGC Lady Captain’s Prize at the par-72 Kitante course on Saturday.
“This is an important tournament for the ladies section of UGC,” said Abeja during the tournament press launch at Kitante on Thursday.

“It marks a transition whereby the outgoing captain hands over office to the incoming,” she said before riding on the Women’s Day them of ‘choose to challenge’.
A field of 210 players is expected to take with the event bankrolled by a cast of 12 sponsors led by Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) under Tusker Malt Lager brand, Uganda Airlines and Case Medical Services.

“TML is a progressive brand, so we challenge everyone that golf is not a man’s game. It’s a ladies game,” said UBL’s head of premium beers Elizabeth Mutamuliza.
Others include Stanbic Bank, UBL, Marsh, Crown Beverages, Britam, Nation Media Group under NTV Uganda, Case Medical Services, Life Care Spa, Kigambira Safari Lodge and Trackers Safari Lodge.
