What you need to know:

One-Stop Hub. The Kampala Golf Centre offers swing analysis with two simulation bays, custom club-fitting, nine-hole putting challenge zone and a retail section stocked with premium accessories, all tailored to elevate golfers’ game and experience.

Colin Luswata has laid bare his passion for the game of birdies and bogeys and, more so, its development by opening the first-ever golf fitting center in the heart of Kampala. The Kampala Golf Centre (KGC), officially launched on January 4 in Ntinda, is set to revolutionise the golfing experience in Uganda by providing tailored solutions for golfers of all levels.

Located in one of Kampala's most vibrant suburbs, the facility boasts state-of-the-art equipment, including swing analysis technology, custom club-fitting services, and a retail section stocked with premium golfing accessories. The center is a one-stop shop designed to enhance players’ performance and enjoyment of the game.

Precision sorted

Speaking at the launch, Luswata highlighted the need for such a facility in Uganda's growing golfing community.  “Golf is a sport of precision, and every player deserves equipment suited to their unique style and ability. With this center, we hope to not only improve individual performances but also grow the sport across the region,"* said Luswata, who is willing to impart some of his extensive knowledge.

The launch event attracted several notable personalities from the golfing fraternity, business community, and local government, underscoring the significance of this milestone. Among the attendees were golf officials like Charles Kareeba and Gloria Mbaguta, seasoned pro Ronald Rugumayo, and enthusiastic national team amateur captain Joseph Cwinyaai, all eager to explore the possibilities the new center presents.

“This is the game-changer for golf in Uganda. Having a facility that caters to equipment fitting, training, and repairs in one place means golfers no longer need to look outside the country for professional services. It's a much-needed step forward for the development of our sport,” said Cwinyaai.

Progress inevitable

Rugumayo chipped in; “This centre fills a massive gap in our golf ecosystem. It's a facility that will inspire and support both upcoming and established golfers, and I’m thrilled to see such progress for the sport we love.”

Golfers can find all the equipment and help.

The KGC also aims to provide education on golf equipment and maintenance, addressing a gap in knowledge for many local players. Luswata emphasised the importance of creating a welcoming environment for newcomers to the sport.

“Golf is not just for the elite; it’s for everyone. We want this space to inspire the next generation of Ugandan golfers,” he added.

The facility’s services are expected to reduce the dependency on international fitting centers, saving golfers’ time and costs after some confessed that they had to fly as far as Kenya, South Africa and England before for what will now be solved by KGC for as little as Shs50,000.

The event concluded with live demonstrations of the fitting process, showcasing how customised equipment can transform a player’s game.
