What you need to know:

The Series’ final will be played on December 5 in Kenya, who qualifying rounds are meant to happen across Mombasa, Nairobi, Trans Nzoia, Kiambu, Kakamega, Uasin Gishu, Nyeri, Kericho, Machakos, Kisumu, Kisii, Laikipia, and Nandi counties.

The quartet of Gloria Nanyonga, Dipak Patel, Nic Snyman and Matthew Nviiri may not be too familiar with each other.

However by the close of day on Saturday, that could have changed. Dipak had rallied the other three to join him and form a team called ‘On The Money’ to compete at the third East Africa Golf Tour Series by KCB Bank.

And right, they were. They returned a combined best score of 111 points to emerge as overall winners of the KCB Series leg played at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa in Kigo.

Of that tally, Dipak backed his decision to garner 38 points, Synman returned 37, Nviiri got 36 and Nanyonga had 29 points after playing off handicap seven at the par-72 course. “It was very nice. The day was good,” remarked Nanyonjo who spoke on behalf of the group.

They each won a fully-paid trip to Nairobi courtesy of Kenya Airways for the KCB East Africa Tour grand finale as well as a Callaway golf bag apiece from KCB managing director Edgar Byamah.

“We didn’t expect to win, we just played to our best,” said the lady who has been playing golf for two years.

“The course was okay. The wind was blowing hard but everything was good. The pin positions were okay, they weren't that tricky but we managed to score what we could,” Nanyonjo added.

On the day, Nanyonjo made one birdie on Hole No.1 and recalled two pars on Holes No.2 and No.17.

A total 30 groups comprising four players each took part and Nanyonjo and team edged the field by five shots.

The group called Serena Crocs, composed of familiar Kigo members Jadu Patel, John Muchiri, Kartick Halai and Suresh Patel came second with 106 points.

The KCB East Africa Series brings together players from Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Burundi where KCB operates.

“Last year, Team Uganda proudly clinched victory in Kenya and was officially recognised. As an annual event, it continues to foster strong regional bonds. KCB remains the largest bank in East Africa and a trusted financial partner,” said Byamah.
