If you thought the arousing tricks Canadian professional rider Mitchell Cooke displayed at the Garuga Double Circuit on Sunday were all there is, you haven’t seen anything yet. “I was just having fun at the same time making sure the fans aren’t bored,” said the 27-year-old Canadian series MX1 and MX (2005 and 2007) champion.

Mitchell was clearly unbothered about who was second - Uganda’s number one Arthur Blick Jr - because even if he craned his neck to locate the National Motocross Champion and current leader – Blick wasn’t any where in sight.

That, however, didn’t stop Blick tightening his grip on the National MX1 Championship after winning the second round. He now stands at 147 points, followed by Maxeem Van Pee (130) and Unisan Bakunka (119).

For every 20 minutes and an extra lap of each heat Mitchell completed, he parked his bike, stepped out of his protective gear and took his place the tent before Blick and whoever was second (to Blick) arrived at the finish line. But Mitchell will not have that time of pleasure should he come good on his promise to bring along Canada MX2 national reigning champion Tyler Medaglia for next year’s championship.

“I will bring Tyler Medaglia,” Mitchell told Daily Monitor in an exclusive interview later Sunday evening, “He’s the current champion. He dates my sister and he lives next to me.” “He wanted to come this time but it came too soon. But we’ve already talked, maybe next year. So me and Medaglia will really have a good battle.”

Mitchell also allayed fears that the fancy air antics may be reduced since he will be bent on not letting Medaglia beat him. “I will still do them. I’ll still put on the show. He’ll do them too. We’ll put on like the best show ever.” The next event is the second leg of the East and Central Africa MX Challenge scheduled for May 1 at the same venue. Every motocross fan just can’t wait.
