What you need to know:

The two sides only needed two games in the best-of-three series to sweep aside their opponents and confirm spots in the finals.

Nemostars and Sport-S will tussle it out for the National Volleyball League title following their victories in the semifinals over the weekend.

The two sides only needed two games in the best-of-three series to sweep aside their opponents and confirm spots in the finals.

Nemostars, fresh from competing in the CAVB African Club Championship, had a tough opponent in the shape of KCCA.

But despite playing five sets in both games, the six-time champions landed the final punch in each of the encounters to win the series.

The continued absence of Ivan Ongom has seen head coach Tom Amou employ Esau Ecil in the opposite role.

KCCA, who made the playoffs for the first time since 2009, had the talent to put Nemostars to the test but when playoffs experience was required to get over the line, the Kasasiro Boys fell short.

Led by team captain George Aporu, the Kololo based outfit ensured to avoid what happened last season, when they dominated the regular season and then fell to KAVC in the semifinals.

In the finals, Nemostars will face defending champions Sport-S, who made light work of UCU Doves in a one-sided affair in the other semis match-up.

Seeking a third straight title, Sport-S ended the regular season as the top seed and will start the finals as slight favourites.

But clashes between Nemostars and Sport-S have been far from straight forward since the start of the season.

Nemostars led 2-0 in the first round but eventually lost the match 3-2 before wiping the floor with the champions in the second round.

In the women’s category, defending champions KCB-Nkumba will face Sport-S Ladies to determine the champions.

The defending champions won the series 2-0 while Sport-S also beat UCU Lady Doves in straight sets to book their place.
