Kampala. If 2014 and 2015 belonged to Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) on the local scene, there is no doubt that 2016 has Sport-S written all over it.
From lifting the Rwanda Genocide Memorial women’s title the other weekend, the Nsambya side followed that up with the Dr Aporu Okol Memorial Tournament over the weekend in Kumi.
Sport-S defeated VVC 3-0 (25-20, 25-21 25-19) in a one sided final that had the latter’s setter Yvette Igihozo dictate matters. “Sport-S was just too good,” confessed VVC coach Hannington Nsubuga.

“The players didn’t have to do anything, their setter was the main orchestrator of everything, bad or good reception she knew how to make her attackers look good,” he added.
It was the fourth title Sport-S was winning, the others being the Mbarara and Kampala International University Open Championships. They defeated VVC in straight sets in both finals.
The tournament was also the second this year that had the men’s final fail to end after the Ndejje Open in February, which was called off when Nemostars and Sky were tied at a set each. It was the same story in Kumi where Sky and Nemostars were tied at 2-2, but the final set wasn’t played because of bad light.
