Kampala. For the past three editions, proceeds from the Kabaka Run have been geared towards fighting Fistula.
However, the story changes this year, for the fourth edition due April 9 at Lubiri, as Buganda Kingdom prepare to fight Sickle Cells in the region. Not that we are now a Fistula-free country but there is a lot to tackle in the health sector. On Monday, Airtel handed over the Kabaka Run marathon kits to the Buganda Kingdom at a press conference that was held in Mengo. The run will have the 5km, 10kms and 21km routes.
The handover was graced by Buganda prime minister Charles Peter Mayiga and sports minister Henry Sekabembe alongside Airtel Uganda directors and staff members led by the managing director Anwar Soussa. For the past four years, Airtel has been the main sponsor of this run, one of the four major activities that commemorate the Kabaka’s birthday.
“I would like to pledge our future commitment and support to Buganda, its people and its activities, as we unite to maintain the good glory of this Kingdom,” Airtel’s Anwar Soussa said before urging their customers to be part of this noble cause.
