The Uganda Cranes will hope to fly higher when they meet lately familiar foes Togo on Match Day Two of Group C at the Chan finals in Douala, Cameroon tomorrow night.

It is a fixture that has happened five times in the seven years with Uganda winning just twice and losing thrice.

More interestingly, in all past seven meetings, only one side has managed to score. Below is how the Cranes have fared in against the Sparrowhawks over nine encounters.

 Oct 4, 2016: Togo 1-0 Uganda
The West African nation hosted and won this friendly encounter thanks to Lalawele Atakora’s first-half effort past Salim Jamal. Cranes were then under Micho Sredojevic, preparing for the Fifa World Cup Qualifier group opener next door against hosts Ghana’s Black Stars.

 Nov 15, 2015: Uganda 3-0 Togo
The two sides had met almost a year earlier in the second round of the 2018 Fifa World Cup Qualifiers. Here, the Cranes were sealing a 4-0 aggregate victory thanks to a 3-0 first half-blitz from Geoffrey Massa and late Farouk Miya’s brace.
 Nov 12, 2015: Togo 0-1 Uganda
Three days before, the Cranes had won for the first time in Lome, opening the route to Russia with Miya’s strike at the Kegue Stadium.
Oct 15, 2014: Togo 1-0 Uganda
During the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) Qualifiers, Togo made mathematics complex for the Cranes in the route to Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. Serge Akakpo’s effort sorted matters in Namboole on Match Day 4 in Group E. Uganda’s wait for Afcon then prolonged to 35 years.
Oct 11, 2014: Uganda 0-1 Togo
On Match Day 3, Donou Kokou had buried the Cranes in Lome with his goal coming at the half-hour mark. The highlight of that match was the warm reception that former Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor received from the fans in Namboole.
Jun 2, 2001: Uganda 0-3 Togo
The two sides had first met in the Afcon Qualifiers back in 2001. At this Group 5 return leg, Togo did like the first, winning 3-0 at Nakivubo with goals from Mohamed Kader sandwiching Kouadji Dogbe’s effort.
Oct 8, 2000: Togo 3-0 Uganda
In the first meeting at Kegue, Togo had also won 3-0 with Tadjou Salou’s penalty, Noutsodjin Kossi and Kader on the score sheet.
Nov 21, 1965: Togo 1-1 Uganda
Again, there was no winner during the second meeting between the two sides at Kegue.
Jul 14, 1965: Togo 1-1 Uganda
The first meeting side between Togo and Uganda came at the inaugural All-Africa Games 56 years ago in Congo’s capital Brazzaville.
